Day 1- taking stock of the site

Lora Hall, well known Los Angeles gardener, educator and garden consultant came to take stock of my back garden with the goal of creating what we are calling a Dark Garden. Our goal is to make a Gothic themed garden using black or very dark colored flowers and plants.
Today we started off by looking around at what I had plant wise, hauling out plants I just don't have room for, and even throwing some away (!!!) This process I consider puttering and is really about brainstorming while doing. One putters to think.
Usually Lora and I have very different ways of working. I plan but rarely act, Lora acts but rarely plans-- because she just knows-- today however we both puttered.
